Success at Bellwether isn’t just about technical expertise; it’s also about the supportive environment that empowers employees like Gabriela to achieve their best. As a project manager, she thrives in a culture that values autonomy, collaboration, and clear communication within her team. At Bellwether, these elements come together to empower professionals to ask questions, embrace new challenges, and succeed in ways that align with both professional and personal goals.
“I love asking questions and figuring out how things work,” Gabriela explained. “I’m learning so much with new technology, and everyone on my team is learning it at the same time.”
Gabriela’s role as a project manager is as vital to the company’s success as the team of engineers she manages. It’s her job to prioritize projects, review tasks, communicate the timeline, schedule onsite client visits, and ensure that all plans align with the needs of both the client and her team. Gabriela’s organizational skills allow for seamless coordination on each project, leading to satisfied clients.
Shifting from Insurance to IT
As she celebrates her six-year work anniversary at Bellwether, it’s impressive to see how far Gabriela has come, especially considering she joined without prior project management experience. After working in insurance for several years, her desire to explore new challenges led her to project management. Despite being new to the role, Bellwether was willing to give her a chance and provide her with the necessary training.
Gabriela’s willingness to immerse herself in every aspect of the company earned praise from her team members.
“Her strong understanding of processes and workflows quickly became evident,” said her supervisor Rodney, Professional Services Manager. “She is an incredibly pleasant person who’s always looking for ways to improve systems, either by making changes herself or collaborating with the team to get things done.”
Mastering the Art of Project Management
Through Bellwether’s support for her continuing education, Gabriela earned a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential, and later, a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. The company not only paid for her certifications, but it also provided time for training and studying during the week and gave her time off to take the tests.
As Gabriela takes on new projects, she continues to expand her knowledge. When she joined the professional services team, she was introduced to a wide variety of projects, including work on physical servers, storage units, networking, wireless projects, development work in the Cloud, and SharePoint migrations.
The work on Gabriela’s schedule each day is made more fulfilling by the supportive team members she collaborates with. Everyone pitches in when needed, and managers are always available for questions and advice. When a client recognizes a job well done, the compliment is shared with the entire company.
The Keys to Fulfillment
Open communication at Bellwether isn’t just about work—it extends into the personal lives of team members. Team chats, both serious and fun, foster camaraderie as colleagues feel comfortable sharing jokes and pictures of their kids on the first day of school.
Bellwether recognizes that life extends beyond work, which is why flexibility is highly valued. As a parent of two young children, Gabriela appreciates the ability to work from home when necessary and adjust meetings to attend school events.
“It’s the culture that sets Bellwether apart from other organizations,” Gabriela said. “There’s a lot of trust and autonomy.”
At Bellwether, Gabriela is not only supported but empowered to achieve her best. By fostering a culture of autonomy, collaboration, and continuous learning, the company provides an environment where team members can thrive. With encouragement to explore new ideas and take ownership of projects, Gabriela finds fulfillment in a role where success is a collective effort, driven by a shared commitment to excellence.
